Memories of Enid

by Cecily Morris

I have spent some time thinking about my personal relationship with Enid. We were "girlfriends." Our children are approximately the same ages; we had birthday parties at PlayTown Park. We would also make occasional shopping trips with Enid and her mother Miriam to some shop on City Line.

When her art began to include photography Enid often used our darkroom so she was in and out often and would stop work for a cup of tea. We had quiet moments together.

Of course, one of the most wonderful and memorable times was when Enid had a show at the Farnsworth Museum in Camden, Maine. Enid, Gene, Dick, and I went to see the show and had a wonderful time. Enid, of course, found a charming B&B; the exhibit was fabulous, as always. This is one of our most cherished memories. To say that I miss her would be a gross under statement.

I admired her as a person and as an artist, and most of all I'm grateful that I could call Enid Mark, my dear friend. Even if it does sound trite, I really do miss her so much.
